Our Ketubah

On the 16th day of Tishrie, 5764 -- October 12, 2003 -- here in Royal Oak, Maryland, United States of America, we, the beloveds, Levi, son of Jacob and Frada, and Jessica, daughter of Stephan and Brenda, join together in this sacred marriage covenant according to the traditions of the Jewish people.

As we travel life’s journey together, we will hold each other in respect, in admiration, and in love, just as we hold each other’s hands. We promise to be understanding and forgiving. And we promise to be always mindful of each other’s needs and feelings, where we struggle, and where we shine.

We will stand by each other through life’s sorrows and celebrations. We will share in each other’s hopes and dreams. And we will cherish each other in our triumphs both great and small, as well as in life’s trials.

We vow to build the foundation of our home on the blessing and privilege of giving to one another. May our home be one where the flow of the seasons and the passage of life are celebrated through the symbols of our Jewish heritage. And may this home be one of partnership and challenge, filled with reverence for playing, learning, loving, generosity, and ingenuity.

As our life and this home unfold, we vow to each contribute fully and fairly to the well-being of our household, be it financial support or household work.

May the laughter of children grace the rooms of our home. And if we are so blessed with children of our own, we vow to raise them mutually, with respect for and trust in each other’s parenting, and with complete respect for our children’s intelligence, playfulness, and spirit.

May we be poor in misfortune and rich in blessings. May the light of friendship guide our path together. May we live to see our children’s children’s children. And may the joy of living with one another bring smiles to our faces.

All of this we accept as valid and binding.
